I received two brand new Snom D120 Desk Phones today. Both have FW 10.1.54.24 pre-installed. Both only have English French and Spanish as language option.

The normal way to enable mutiple language support for the D120 is to download a new settings file via the "Update Setting URL field" as described in this Link: How can I enable multiple language support for SnomD120

This works fine for 10.1.54.13, but following these instructions a with "http://downloads.snom.com/config/settings_10.1.54.24.xml" only seems to work, but dose not supply any additional languages!

I had a look linked XML files from the URLs. For german XML content is present, for both 10.1.54.13 and 10.1.54.24 is present, see

https://downloads.snom.com/config/snomlang-10.1.54.13/web_lang_DE.xml

https://downloads.snom.com/config/snomlang-10.1.54.24/web_lang_DE.xml

However the intermediate pages for 10.1.54.24 linking to the page above are broken / not available.

e.g. http://downloads.snom.com/config/gui_lang_10.1.54.24.xml

Might just be a web server glicht, or Snom forgot them....

Since Snom refuses contact with their otherwise happy customers...

Could someone with a partner account please make Snom aware of this problem and open a ticket? 

I suspect there is no "easy" workaround, but Snom could very easily fix it.

(Yes, I could probably hack it myself by editing the vanilla XML 10.1.54.24 files and tricking the phone into installing them, but that would be way to much effort...)

Any other ideas would be welcome too.

    Hey Federico,

    thank you very much for your prompt answer. It is very reassuring that snom reads and answers these posts. 

    My problem is solved. It seems that it was indeed a simple time out issue with the snom update server. The phones repeatedly gave up on the downloads and threw errors.

    Interesting learning from this is the potential for customising the interface by changing the .xml content, though I doubt the need will ever arise.

    Hello guys,

    we also have problems getting the german language files on the phone.

    We have a Hardware Revision 2 Snom D120 with 10.1.54.24 installed.

    According to the instructions on https://service.snom.com/display/wiki/How+can+I+enable+multiple+language+support+for+SnomD120 we entered http://downloads.snom.com/config/settings_10.1.54.24.xml in the Update Settings URL field, saved and rebooted. We also tried to store the custom files on a local webserver and I can see in Apache logs, that the D120 try to access the web_lang.xml and gui_lang.xml but in the phone logs I get "read_xml_settings: found no XML header; probably old style format"-errors.


    What to do? Why is it so complicated?
