Near Field Communication (NFC) is an international transmission standard based on RFID technology for the contactless exchange of data by electromagnetic induction using loosely coupled coils over short distances of a few centimeters and at a maximum data transmission rate of 424 kbps.

Up to now, this technology has been used primarily in the micropayment sector - contactless payments of small amounts.
