Introduction

Device Manager is a paid service and made available via the SRAPS portal. It is collection of advanced device management features that allows the admin to be in full control of the managed phones.

Phone that are managed can be addressed ad-hoc to retrieve status information, perform trouble-shooting actions e. g. reboot and reset, and can receive immediate settings changes. Additionally, monitoring the Voice Quality of the managed phones enables service providers to debug customer complaints of poor audio quality.

Supported phone models

Device Manager can be activated for the following Snom phone models:

  • D717
  • D735
  • D862
  • D865
  • D895
  • SP800

Activating Device Manager

Users can either activate device manager per single phone or for a group of phones via the SRAPS portal and API. In both cases, the user will be asked to subscribe to a plan first before he can activate the service for any phone.

Activate subscription

If you want to activate a subscription, you can do that under the menu item "Subscriptions" on the SRAPS portal.

Calculate your monthly price

The Device Manager subscription plan has a metered pricing model, i. .e. the more phones you activate the less you pay per device per month. You can use the Subscription Calculator to see how much your monthly subscription will cost:

  

Activate subscription

To activate your subscription, click on the big green button in the top right corner. The link will take you to the checkout page of Stripe - our online payment service partner. 

You will be asked to provide the details of your preferred payment method.

Click "Subscribe" to complete this step. You will be redirected back to the SRAPS portal and your subscription is complete.

Payment methods

Your provided payment methods can be seen under the tab "Payment methods" on the Subscription page on SRAPS portal. Initially, there will be only the payment method provided when you first activated your subscription. You can add more payment methods to SRAPS, and define which one is the preferred one, i. e. will be used to be charged at the monthly rate.

Your payment method information is NOT stored in in SRAPS, but only in Stripe.


Supported Features

Monitoring device status and setup

Device Manager allows you to have a real-time communication with the device to retrieve the following information:

  • Device uptime
  • Installed firmware version
  • Connected devices (USB)
  • Network switch usage
  • Memory status
  • SIP identities + status

Troubleshooting tools

In order to support the technician troubleshooting a device, Device Manager comes with the following features:

  • Reboot device
  • Reset device
  • Update firmware version
  • Get System log
  • Get SIP trace from phone
  • Get modified settings from phone

Task scheduler

All of the described features above can either be triggered immediately, or scheduled to be carried out once in the future or repeatedly for a given occurences series.

Monitoring the Voice Quality

For activated devices, Device Manager will monitor the voice quality of each call and provide a Voice Quality Report after the call is ended. 

The voice quality is captured and calculated based on the RTPC-XR metrics specified in RFC3611. 

Based on these metrics, Device Manager calculates two Mean Opinion Scores:

  • MOSCQ → mean opinion score for conversation voice quality, on a scale from 1 to 5
  • MOSLQ → mean opinion score for listening voice quality, on a scale from 1 to 5


Voice Quality scale:

The Device Manager will label the calculated MOSCQ scores of each call, based on the Absolute Category Rating:

Dashboard

The dashboard is the place where the admin has an easy and quick overview of his managed devices. It shows three piecharts of

  • Voice Quality
  • Online/Offline devices
  • SIP registration status

Notifications

SRAPS Device Manager can notify you in the event of one of the following status updates of a device:

  • SIP registration status changed to unregistered 
  • Device went offline (no longer reachable by Device Manager) / Device became online again
  • Call with Poor Call Quality registered

A new notification is announced in the top right corner of the portal, and a counter of new messages is shown.


When you click on a message, you will be sent to the page of the context of that message.

Firewall configuration

If you want to manage your phones using Device Manager, please ensure that the network port 1720 is open at the site where the phone are installed.
