Provisioning polling allows phone administrators to schedule fetching the provisioning files (configuration and/or software updates) at a well defined interval or date/time.
In this page we will show how to configure that on our desk phones (D1xx, D3xx, D7xx and D8xx series)
To enable provisioning polling, open the Web Interface of your phone, click on Advanced -> Update and set Prov Polling to on.
First, decide on the option you want to configure the setting Polling Mode to. Then, continue configuring the necessary settings depending on this.
The following options are available :
This mode enables phones to check for updates in the provisioning files every X seconds. There are two ways to enable this functionality:
Example: fetch provisioning files every 20 seconds
Required settings:
This mode enables phones to check for updates in the provisioning files at an exact time, based on the 24-hour clock. You can set the time in the parameter Polling Time.
Example: check for updates in the provisioning files every day at 09:00
Required settings:
This mode enables phones to check for updates in the provisioning files randomly. The randomness depends on the period set in the Polling Period (in seconds):
Example 1: check for updates in the provisioning files once a day at a random time between 09:00 and 09:10
Required settings:
This case will have provisioning every day between 09:00-09:10, starting the next day after the setting was changed.
Example 2: check for updates in the provisioning files every 3 days at a random time between 09:00 and 09:10
Required settings:
This case will have provisioning every 3 days between 09:00-09:10, starting the next day after the setting was changed.
Example 3: check for updates in the provisioning files at random intervals between 0 and 3600 seconds
Required settings:
For this case, settings Polling Time and Polling Time Random End are ignored
