Introduction

It is impossible to imagine the business world without telephone conferences. 
However, it is often quite complicated to initiate such a conference call spontaneously.

With the new "Ad-Hoc Conference" feature of firmware version 10, this is a thing of the past.

This new feature makes it very easy to set up a 2+1 conference call.

With a single key press, the user can enter the new conference setup and comfortably select desired participants.

Initiate conference call

1) From idle press the Conference key on the Snom SmartScreen.

2) This opens the conference setup dialogue. Here you can directly enter a number for participant one.

3) Alternatively, use the Pool soft key that provides you access to all available directories and contact sources.

4) In this example, both participants are selected from the local phone directory.

5) The moment participant two is selected the phone calls both in parallel.

6) If one accepts you can already talk with each other, and when the other accepts too the conference is established.

7) On the Snom SmartScreen, the conference key functionality switches dynamically to Hold, allowing to hold the conference if needed.

8) You can browse the participants at any time and if needed selectively hold and resume the conversation or the whole conference.

9) To resume the conference you can either press the soft key on the main display...

... or the synchronously updated Snom SmartScreen key.

Variation A: Start a conference from connected

1. While already in an established call press the Conference key on the Snom SmartScreen.
2. This opens the conference setup dialogue asking for participant two. Enter a number or select from Pool the desired participant.
3. The moment participant two is selected/entered the phone calls the given target. During the dialog, selection and invite the current call continues.
4. If the desired participant accepts, the conference is established without any further need for interaction.
5. All conference-related operations are now available as described above starting at 7)
   

Variation B: Start a conference from hold

1. While having a call on hold press the Conference key on the Snom SmartScreen. (Please note: this is limited to one on hold! The phone can only handle 2+1 / 3PTY)
2. This opens the conference setup dialogue asking for participant two. Enter a number or select from Pool the desired participant.
3. The moment participant two is selected/entered the phone calls the given target. During the dialog, selection and invite the current call is kept on hold.
4. If the desired participant accepts, the conference is established without any further need for interaction.
5. All conference-related operations are now available as described above starting at 7)
   
   

Known limitation for all scenarios described:

Please note that when one of the participants being called puts the phone setting up the conference on hold, several none-critical side effects can occur.

For example:

• You are in a call with participant 1 and in the process of selecting participant 2 to establish a conference.  If participant 1 puts you on hold, the conference will not be established. You will see the "Held by" status for participant 1.
• Another case is if you accept another call during conference setup and you later end this and the participant one call, the phone will end up in one of the conference setup screens. This can be closed by pressing X/Cancel.
