Do you want to manually back up the configuration of your desk phone, or transfer the configuration from a phone to one or more devices of the same model, manually without a provisioning server?'
Then this is the right guide for you.
Configure the "prototype" of your phone as it should be on all phones later. This can be e.g. colors and a link to a backround picture, ringtones for incoming and outgoing numbers and of course speed dial or BLF keys. From this "prototype" you then create a "backup" and you have to shorten the backup a little bit and can then transfer it to other phones.
Let's first look at how you can create the backup from your source device (prototype).
The following file types can be saved as backups from the phone's web user interface:
The following is recommended:
NOTE: Passwords will not be saved. You can manually re-enter the passwords in the settings file, or set them again directly after the phone after the restore. |
If you need help to enter the Webuserinterface (WUI), please look here: Entering Snom Deskphone Web Interface - WUI |
Click best onto the "Changed Settings (.xml)" to download only the changed configuration, except of any passwords.
For a complete Back Up of the specific snom phone, choose "All settings". |

If your phone was set up with a Static IP Address it will get converted to DHCP during the restore process. This will make it appear as if the Web Page is going to time out. It’s not really timing out, but the IP Address used to manage the Phone could have been changed by the DHCP server.
At this point just watch the screen on the Phone. When the restore process reaches a point where you’re being asked to Select a Language pick up the Restore Process from the Phone and:
At this point you have nearly fully restored the Backup Configuration File.
If you would like to revert back to your Static IP Address you’ll need to.
